Gun Dog/Hunt Test Training
At Brio Retrievers I offer long term in-kennel training and private lessons for gun dog and hunt test training. There are numerous levels of training offered, I will help you to determine which level of training would work best for the goals you want your dog to obtain. My goal is to train a dog that works for your hunting needs.
Puppy/Basic: In this stage of training I work with your dog on basic on and off leash obedience. Introduce your dog to birds, gun shots, marks in land and water and different factors.
Beginner Advanced: In the next stage your dog will advance to learning "fetch" through the force fetch program, become electronic collar conditioned, learn to deliver to hand, experience more difficult marks on land and water and become steady off lead.
Gundog: This type of training gets your dog use to factors that a typical hunting dog might now be faced with. Such as: sitting on a platform, staying in a blind or "mutt hutt", being steady while there is shooting occurring and sitting in a canoe.
Advanced: This level will have your dog ready to compete and be a reliable hunting partner! Your dog will learn how to handle multiple marks, learn to honor another working dog and begin working on basic blind casting drills which will enable your dog to retrieve a bird they did not see fall.
